Following a scoreless 120 minutes, Portugal were knocked out of the European championships by Spain on penalties on Wednesday night. However it wasn’t all good news for the reigning World and European champions, as they looked both tired and easily frustrated when Portugal stymied their passing game and kept them well in check. They waited for a touch of magic from Ronaldo that never materialised and the Madrid man was left to look on as his team were beaten 4-2 on penalties, denying him the opportunity to step up for the fifth penalty himself.
