Six people have been killed and a further six are missing in China as dual typhoons made landfall within hours of each other. Typhoons Saola and Damrey have both left havoc in their wake. Saola hit the south-eastern province of Fujian following the arrival of Damrey some nine hours earlier.
Chinese state media have reported mass evacuations as flooding has displaced up to 1 million people in various provinces across the region. Transport services have also been affected, with railway lines reportedly submerged near the provincial capital Shenyang.
