According to train operator, VIA Rail, a passenger train derailment in southern Ontario on Sunday killed three passengers and injured several more.

The derailment is believed to have occurred on a stretch of rail owned by Canadian National Railway who confirmed that an internal investigation into the accident was already under way. The accident took place near Burlington in southern Ontario.
